Twitter Hit By Unfollow Bug

Causes users to randomly unfollow without their consent.
Twitter Hit By Unfollow Bug
Twitter is currently facing an "unfollow" bug that is causing users to randomly unfollow other users without their consent. The microblogging company has admitted that the bug exists and that it is working on a fix. Meanwhile, affected users have been advised to visit its support page where the bug alert has been posted that says, "A person you've recently followed shows in your following tab, but appears with a follow icon so it looks like you're not following them, as shown in the image below. Visit their profile if you'd like to confirm you're following them". Thankfully, this is only a bug and not a virus, so the user's personal data is considerably safe.

When’s the best time to post on Google+? This app will tell you

Have you ever wondered if there’s an ideal time you should share your posts on Google+ so that they have more impact? Developer Daniel Treadwell did, and instead of staying in the dark, he decided to build a tool that will do just that – the aptly named Google+Timing.
Announcing the new app, Daniel writes:
“To attempt to aid you (and myself!) in getting the most out of your posts I have created Google+Timing, a site which analyzes your post history (capped at 100 posts for now) that highlights the days and hours in which your posts have the highest impact.”

Apple begins to ease new iPad availability, orders now showing 1-2 week deliveries

Having officially sold over 3 million new iPads since launch day, Apple has begun to ease constraints on availability as delivery times have been cut by a week on the company’s regional online stores.
Customers rushing to preorder the new iPad brought the Apple website to its knees on March 7 after the company opened ordering shortly after its San Francisco keynote. This pushed delivery times for the iPad to be pushed back to between 2-3 weeks, as Apple looked to ensure it had enough stock to fulfil orders in 10 launch countries.

Why your Facebook stalker is not the real problem

We live in networked conditions. This is a statement that can now be taken at face-value,and immediately explains our highly connected, inter-meshed environments.
Especially within the digital world, the World Wide Web has become synonymous with social networking systems, where increasingly all our access, communication and interaction is located within a series of interconnected networks.

F1: A good looking car is a fast car

In the battle of noses, the sleek and sharp made the platypus look ugly. In Formula One, it’s said, a good looking car is a fast car. On Sunday, in the 2012 Formula One season opener at the Albert Park Circuit, Melbourne, it was conclusively proven that the McLaren-Mercedes MP4-27 is an outright ramp-scorcher by a country mile – she is beautiful, she hugs the bends and she has long legs.
She danced an elegant dance of speed with a poise of a ballerina to Jenson Button’s caress. But, the same cannot be said about Lewis Hamilton’s grab-by-the-scruff-of-the-neck style of driving, leaving the 2008 champion mystified and sulking in equal measure after the race.

Cupertino: Apple Inc says it has sold 3 million iPads since Friday when it released the latest version of the tablet computer.
The new, third model comes with a faster processor, a much sharper screen and an improved camera. As with the previous models, prices start at $499 in the US.

The company began selling the latest tablet computer in the US and nine other countries Friday and will begin selling it in 24 more countries at the end of this week.

Microsoft says no plans for new Xbox anytime soon

New York: Microsoft says it’s not coming out with a new Xbox gaming console anytime soon.
Some video game players had hoped that Microsoft Corp. would unveil an upgrade at the E3 Expo in June, a big, yearly video game conference in Los Angeles where game makers show off new wares and titles.

Adobe revenue slows ahead of upgrades, shares fall

Boston: Adobe Systems Inc, maker of Photoshop and Acrobat software, said revenue growth slowed as sales of its widely used Creative Suite software fell, missing its forecasts, ahead of widely anticipated product launches this quarter.
Revenue rose 1.7 percent to $1.045 billion in its fiscal first quarter ended March 2, slightly below the $1.054 billion average forecast of analysts polled by Thomson Reuters.

Delhi HC quashes criminal proceedings against Microsoft India

                                     Reuters

The high court also gave complainant Vinay Rai liberty to file a fresh complaint if he finds later any credible piece of evidence against the website.

Google Books scanning errors turned into works of art

Andrew Norman Wilson got a lot of attention last year for his Workers Leaving the Googleplex video, which depicted a little-known group of contractors at Google’s HQ, charged with doing the scanning that feeds Google’s mission to digitize every book that it possibly can.
While Wilson lost his own contractor job in video production at Google as a result of the film, that hasn’t stopped his fascination with Google’s ‘ScanOps’, a supposedly marginalized group of workers who don’t get the same perks that many other workers in the Googleplex receive (although to be fair, they are contractors).

Twitter sharpens its focus on India with trending topics expansion, still trails rivals

Twitter is beefing up its offering in India as it looks to increase its market share in the world’s largest democracy. Building on support for four new local languages, that were added last month, the company has expanded its ‘trending topics’ service to Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Delhi, in addition to its ongoing coverage of Mumbai, according to Pluggd.in
The addition of the languages, which makes Twitter easier to use for non-fluent speaking of English, and the new cities are its latest effort to build its presence in India.

What will Apple do with its billions?

Will Apple acquire Samsung? Okay, we admit, perhaps that’s a far-fetched idea (or maybe not!). But, it is among the various suggestions being bandied about what Apple Inc, the world’s most valuable company, might announce at its conference call on Monday.
In an unusual media release on Sunday, the maker of the iPhone, iPad and iPod said it would announce what it plans to do with its $98 billion cash hoard at the conference call.

Apple to reveal how it will spend cash pile

New York: Apple Inc said it will announce the outcome of its internal discussion concerning its enormous cash balance on Monday morning.
Analysts expect Apple to institute a dividend. It can easily afford one, since it had $97.6 billion in cash and securities at the end of last year. That would be enough for a $100 one-time dividend for every shareholder, but analysts expect the company to institute a modest recurring dividend.

Service Tax Hike to hit Common People

News Desk: Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee is said to have disappointed people of India in the Union Budget 2012-13 hiking the service tax, which suggests that the budget is not for common man (Aam Aadmi).

The budget was highly criticised and the experts have described it as hopeless and disappointing. The tax payers were expecting I-T exemption limit up to Rs 3 lakh. However, the exemption was raised to Rs 2 lakh.

While a common man is still struggling in the regime of high price rise and high interest rate, the hike in service tax will definitely hit the common man's pocket.

Pranab increased service tax from 10% to 12% and widened the service tax net by exempting just 12 services. The excise duty was also hiked by 2%.

"Personal cloud will replace PC by 2014: Gartner"

Bangalore: The reign of the personal computer as the sole corporate access device is coming to a close, and by 2014, the personal cloud will replace the
personal computer at the centre of users’ digital lives, according to technology researcher Gartner, Inc.

Gartner analysts said the personal cloud will begin a new era that will provide users with a new level of flexibility with the devices they use for daily activities, while leveraging the strengths of each device, ultimately enabling
new levels of user satisfaction and productivity. However, it will require enterprises to fundamentally rethink how they deliver applications and services to users, a Gartner statement said.

Gartner analysts said the personal cloud will begin a new era that will provide users with a new level of flexibility with the devices they use for daily activities. Reuters
“Major trends in client computing have shifted the market away from a focus on personal computers to a broader device perspective that includes smartphones, tablets and other consumer devices,” said Steve

Nifty gains make India the best performer in 2012

MUMBAI: Foreign portfolio managers and local punters are betting on a rate cut, easy money, UP elections, cut in subsidy and a gradual shift in global liquidity from commodities to equities to buy stocks. Even though corporate profit growth is at its lowest and industrial output grew just 1.8% in December 2011 against 8.1% a year ago, Nifty has emerged as the best-performing index in the world since Januray 1.

India's floundering top order overdue!!!

Match facts
February 3, Melbourne
Start time 1935 (0835 GMT)
Matthew Wade got to a fifty off 34 balls, Australia v India, 1st Twenty20, Stadium Australia, Sydney, February 1, 2012
Can Matthew Wade further push Brad Haddin for top honours with a solid showing in Melbourne?

Big Picture
A change of formats seems to have not helped India, who struggled in the first Twenty20 at Stadium Australia on Wednesday night. Again it was a case of the top order failing to give the side a good start, and the batting will need to improve if they are to avoid a 2-0 defeat. Australia's new-look outfit, which has more of a Twenty20 specialist feel than any side they have previously fielded, displayed enthusiasm and talent, and they worked well together under the captain, George Bailey. The second and final Twenty20 at the MCG gives Bailey an opportunity to secure a series win in his first series as Australia's leader.
Australia relied heavily on spin in Sydney, and it was a ploy that slowed India's scoring to the point that they were unable to fight their way back into the chase. The MCG might offer a little more for the fast men, and it also offers the chance for an enormous crowd after a Sydney record of 59,659 turned out for the first game. A Friday night game in Melbourne means people can wander down to Jolimont after work and take in the action, and far more will be expected at this match than at the first ODI that follows on Sunday, also at the MCG.

5 game genres on the decline!

The circle of life doesn't stop -- even in the video game world. No matter how popular a game genre might be, it's always in danger of becoming irrelevant.
Sometimes, that's due to oversaturation, or perhaps interests have simply shifted elsewhere. While no video game death is permanent, several genres are in deep hibernation -- and others are threatening to join them. Here are five game types in serious need of some extra lives.
Racing games
Blur (Activision)As much a staple of a healthy video game diet as sports, racing games have been popular for nearly as long as video games have existed. But troubling sales have led to dwindling interest at the publisher level.
Two once-powerful racing game developers -- Black Rock Studios (Pure, Split-Second) and Bizarre Creations (Project Gotham Racing, Blur) -- have closed down, leaving things a bit up in the air for racing fans.
There's still an occasional blockbuster in the genre (Nintendo's Mario Kart, Microsoft's Forza and Sony's Gran Turismo still demand attention), but in general the titles don't sell like they used to. And in a hit-driven industry, that's scaring most publishers away.
