Rovio confirms that a 52-episode TV series will air by October.
Angry Birds holds the record for being downloaded more than 700 million times already. Recently, its latest iterationscored 10 million downloads in just three days. After all this phenomenal success, Rovio is now making a TV series based on these avians. The company’s Head of Animation,Nick Dorra said that unlike the game, the TV series will reveal "...deeper thoughts, deeper feelings of the characters, such as why are they always angry?"
At the MIPTV conefrence in Cannes, Nick revealed plans for a 52-episode series, which will probably debut in October. Each episode will be between two-and-a-half to three minutes. The Finn added that they want to follow Disney’s model, and want to leave a mark as an entertainment company, rather than a game developer. He also said that a full-length Angry Birds movie is in the pipeline. However, it won’t be released until 2013.
Since the movie is at least a year away, it seems like Rovio wants its animators to practice and learn from the TV series. Currently, I'm not sure whether the series will be aired in India. If it does, it will be interesting to see how it fares against the "Saas and Bahu" soaps.
