IPL 5: Pune Warriors beat Mumbai Indians


Cricket Desk: The Sahara Pune Warriors prevailed over rampaging Mumbai Indians in their opening IPL 5 match in Mumbai today. The Warriors won the match by 28 runs. Mumbai Indians had beaten Chennai Super Kings in the opening match. 
Earlier, Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to field first. Pune Warriors scored just 129/9 on a wet and damp wicket. Steven Smith (39) and Robin Uthappa (36) were the top contributors. Lasith Malinga and Munaf Patel took two wickets each. 
Tendulkar did not play in today's match because of a finger injury he suffered in the last match against Chennai Super Kings. 

Chasing a victory target of 130, Mumbai Indians lost Richard Levi, Ambati Rayudu and Rohit Sharma for just five runs on board. They never recovered from that shock and finished at 101/9 in 20 overs. They lost the match by 28 runs. 
For Mumbai Indians, James Franklin and Dinesh Karthik scored 32 runs each. Ashok Dinda took four wickets, while Murali Kartik took two wickets. Steven Smith was declared 'Man of the Match'.
