'Kahaani' is receiving a very good response from both the critics and audiences with the collection of Rs 2.95 crore on its opening day. Released on March 9, the drama-thriller earned Rs 4.5 crore on Saturday.
Vidya, who has been appreciated for her performances in female-centric films 'Ishqiya', 'No One Killed Jessica' and 'The Dirty Picture', is no doubt lucky for the director Sujoy Ghosh and the entire unit.
The film will definitely survive for over a week as the audiences have received it well and it has been declared a hit at the box office.
She begins a relentless search for her husband. She faces varieties of situation on her way. The situation she daringly faces when all try to convince her that her husband is no more. She is roaming in the city here and there with nothing except memories of her husband.
The protagonist has no clues about her husband in the city. Still, she is searching with a hope that she will find her husband one day. She realises that the city is filled in lies and betrayal. She moves on and on with strong determination that she will unravel the truth about her husband for herself and her unborn baby.
The film was highly appreciated by the group of women, serious and sensible cine lovers. Even families are coming together to watch the movie at theatres. The film is likely to have 80 percent occupancy all over India on weekend.
‘Kahaani’ is not based on the theme of entertainment like ‘The Dirty Picture’, but the script and Vidya's different avatar are attracting audiences. It was houseful in multiplexes on the weekend. As no big releases were scheduled for next week, Vidya's ‘Kahaani’ will strengthen its position at the box office.
